Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge

The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is now open and Carranballac P-9 College is excited to be participating.

The Challenge is open to all Victorian children from birth to Year 10 in recognition of the importance of reading for Literacy development. It is not a competition; but a personal challenge for children to read a set number of books by 8 September 2017.  Students must be registered through the College.

Each campus Library has a number of books with Premiers Reading Challenge stickers, providing a quick visual guide to books that are on the Book List.  Please note that not all books on the Victorian Premier's Reading Challenge book list have stickers in the library.

Children from Foundation to Year 2 are encouraged to read or ‘experience’ 30 books on their own, with their parents, and teachers. Children from Year 3 to Year 10 are challenged to independently read 15 books before September 1st 2017.  Students may read from their current Year Level list, or above and below year levels if their reading ability is better suited.

All students at Carranballac P-9 College will be provided with an online login username and password so that books may be added for each student, by Parents online.  Families without internet access may continue with the printed record sheet and provide to the campus Librarian.  Once the students have been registered by the School, a username and password will be sent home.

All children may participate in the Victorian Premier's Reading Challenge and those who meet the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier.  Parents can choose to have their child's name included on the online Honour Roll. Speak with your Child's Teacher to let them know you're interested in your child participating and if you would like your child‘s name to appear on the Honour Roll, please click here to complete this form and return it to your school.
